Happy 4th anniversary to these two superstars. I w Happy 4th anniversary to these two superstars. I wrote this about them back when I helped them for their first dance… Synchronicity. Can we just take a moment here to appreciate how amazing Ben and Rachel are? They came to me having had no dance lessons ever, nor had they ever danced together in a structured way. Within a space of 9 hours over two weeks they learnt a basic slow waltz. Some people underestimate what is involved in learning a social ballroom dance. The footwork may look simple, some may say repetitive, but for the lead dancer (in this case Ben) to take control, guiding a partner around the floor, usually takes quite some practise and skill. There's a lot going on with each step! More on my blog to come about this.. The final rehearsal of the first dance in their lessons couldn't have been more perfect, even with its imperfections. 💃🏻They made the most of the time we had together in their lessons. 🕺They jumped straight in and were 100% dedicated to learning. 💍They practised over and over. 👰🏻They listened to the music to get to know their song inside and out. 🤵🏻They weren't fazed if there were any little hiccups; Ben picked up the steps again and Rachel responded! Textbook students! Maybe it was pure coincidence that these two moved so naturally together, but what we ended up with was a relaxed waltz which was so beautiful to watch, with a little simple choreographed intro to the dance...and the rest COMPLETELY LED BY BEN!! One word just kept recurring over and over in my feedback to them during the lessons. They danced and moved so naturally together. Whether it's a result of how this couple have grown together over the last 10 years, knowing each other inside and out, bringing them to this point of marriage; whether it's that it was mapped in the stars, they were destined to dance together; I feel privileged to help them realise this destiny, bringing them closer together through their dance lessons. The word was simply: #Synchronicity. Just Magic.

They had a one day intensive dance EXPERIENCE with me. I can't even call this process a lesson because the 5 hours were completely collaborative. They wanted some moves for their first dance to the dramatic Killer Queen by Queen. They freestyled together and showed me the powerful vibe they wanted to bring to their dance, I took that vibe, rolled with it and - for those of you who have performing arts knowledge of any kind: we 'workshopped' their whole routine. I'd prepped some moves for them, then pretty much just helped them order their own moves into a routine they could remember, teaching them some basics of foxtrot too, so they will still have the skill forevermore knowing how to properly lead and follow. Their final rehearsal gave me goosebumps. Can’t wait to share some snippets of the actual first dance with you all too!
