Take a note from Erik & Emma's winter wedding reception at @bodleianlibraryweddings . I've got more wonderful pictures of me in action, to share from @weddingsbynicolaandglen . This first photo is my favourite - I got a dance with the bride! Accompanied by the incredible @thejesusfourquartet, their guests had a waltz lesson with me at the wedding reception (with my Britney style mic) to get the dance floor started. There wasn't a 'traditional' first dance in sight from bride and groom. What better way to get everyone up, socialising, laughing and just giving the bride and groom all the love, supporting incredible memories that will last a lifetime. It also meant no preparation was needed in advance for the bride to have a father-daughter dance, and for the groom to have a dance with his mother too. So special, and so grateful to have this opportunity. Busy day of teaching Dance and Pilates classes and Busy day of teaching Dance and Pilates classes and some admin in between! Tiny break sitting in the sun waiting for my studio to open - snacking on my nuts 🤩🥜 with dark chocolate (the least naught choc!), 🍫 and drinking GreenSynergy Elixir to keep the energy going 🌱. Still processing the magic that happened last week Still processing the magic that happened last weekend at E&E's wedding. So grateful for the opportunity to teach Waltz at their stunning winter (and windy, thanks to #StormDarragh ) wedding at @bodleianlibraryweddings! E&E's guests embraced their inner ballroom pros and got fully involved! The couple had a first waltz lesson with me in the Summer on a sunny day in their garden but were adamant they didn't want an 'all eyes on them' first dance. What a glorious way to give a nod to a dance floor moment, by sharing the load with the guests...who were also given the chance to learn a few moves, accompanied by @thejesusfourquartet. So beautiful to have the live music, just to make the evening feel like something out of an epic move scene. Thanks to @weddingsbynicolaandglen for sharing their first glance pics. 💃🏽Your first dance, your way!🕺🏾 Every 💃🏽Your first dance, your way!🕺🏾 Every year I teach I understand more about what makes a successful first dance journey for my wedding planning couples: 💃🏽I adapt my process for each couple; 🕺🏾the choreo is tailored and tweaked as we go, to suit their personalities, or we talk about what bits they do/don’t like; and 💍 I give mindset support to prep them for the dancefloor. I love it when my more introvert clients suddenly unleash their dancefloor alter ego that they didn’t realise they had within them! I clock it, tell them I’ve spotted it - quite often they then make a point of bringing their alter ego to every lesson 🤪🤩💃🏽🕺🏾. Of course I don’t force anything but sometimes we just need a little permission and encouragement to just Let It Flowwww!!! Sometimes they find themselves asking to add in a move - effectively becoming choreographers themselves - and I’m like ’bring it onnn’! I’m not precious about my choreo as I want them to be comfortable and proud of their routine. They danced to Fly Me to the Moon by Frank. Think it sums this scene up perfectly. Here’s what they said: 💜 “We adored our dancing lessons with Alison. My husband was initially reticent to take classes and he was very much “doing it for me” when we started, but he loved it! Alison was easy to be around, friendly and a great teacher so he felt immediately at ease and could have fun with it. The sessions felt informal and casual which really helped set the tone. We had 6 classes and by the end of it, we felt like we had the routine in a place that we felt confident and comfortable with. It made the start of our evening do feel extra special for the wedding and we cannot recommend taking classes with Alison enough.
